Shrimp farming in Southwestern Bangladesh: a case study of economic impacts during COVID-19

Bangladesh is endowed with a long coastline and therefore offers the enormous potential of marine wealth. In coastal part Bangladesh, shrimp one most important export-oriented aquacultures due to high-profit return on same value. Shrimp farming contributes significantly livelihoods rural Bangladeshis in southwestern region. It critical be aware current culture practices measures farmers take sustain trend exporting around world. A random sampling was done Batiaghata Upazila Khulna district learn about state challenges they are faced during COVID-19. The recent study reveals that following semi-intensive monoculture practice, application organic sources pond, selection PCR tested hatchery-produced Post Larvae (PL) maintaining good hygiene practice delivered considerable production this area. But addition, these also face some difficulties. Some major diseases were identified including White Feces Disease (WFD), Spot Syndrome Virus (WSSV), Eosinophilia-Myalgia (EMS), Black Gill parasite attacks like Zutharium. Lower market price, flood mortality other constraints for farming. low price issue nowadays pandemic situation. As result, government, donor agencies, planners, academics, non-governmental organizations (NGOs) should come forward periods assist resolving ensuring export revenues sustainable. Asian J. Med.
